What is Timebank?

St Luke's Time Bank is a local project which encourages EC1 residents to volunteer their time using a community time bank, earning 'time credits' which they can then 'spend' on a service or skill offered by another member. Every person can do something that someone else would find useful: shopping for someone housebound, dog-sitting during a hospital appointment or helping a neighbour with their garden. It is not possible to get into 'debt' with Time Banking, and everyone's contribution is valued and welcomed equally.

The Time Bank is committed to supporting local people in building a stronger community, through the exchange of skills, talents and time!

Getting involved

Exchanging skills and earning credits - call us on 020 7549 8196

The Time Bank uses credits to keep track of the time people are giving. For every hour you spend helping out with the time bank or sharing a skill with a member, you will earn one time credit. You can then exchange these credits to get help for yourself! The broker keeps a record of all exchanges, and will send you regular statements from your account, letting you know how many credits you have earned and spent.

Meet new friends!

The Time Bank brings people together through shared interests, such as gardening, and activities which give different parts of the community a chance to get to know each other.
